The Pros and Cons of a Destination Wedding
In recent years more couples have chucked traditional weddings and the hours, weeks, months of planning that come with them. Instead they are opting for beautiful, smaller weddings somewhere far from their hometown. Destination wedding, like everything have their pros and cons. Check out the list to see if one might be right for you.
1.) Save money.
Even with travel to your destination and hotels stay your still going to spend less than having a big wedding at home. Your guest will pay for their own travel and lodging and often times your hotel will give discounts if you’re booking a large block of rooms.
2.) More quality time with your guest.
With large weddings you usually only get a few minutes to say hello and thanks for coming but with smaller, destination weddings you have the opportunity to have everyone in one spot for a few days which allows more time together.
3.) Less stress.
Most beach resorts (a very popular spot for a destination wedding) have wedding package options. You can be done with all your planning by simply choosing an option. Eliminate the drama.
If you venture outside of the country there could be different requirements that need to be met in order to be married and you’ll have to ensure you have the proper paper work so your marriage is legal in the U.S. as well.
2.) Missing people
While you’ll have more quality time with the people who are there, there will inevitably be a few who can’t swing the trip and it might be someone you really want to be there.
3.) Inclement Weather
With any outdoor wedding, weather is always a risk factor but if you’re going to the beach during hurricane season be prepared to hold your plans loosely.
